Changing the font type of your tests and courses is definetely possible. Learn how.

Changing the font type of your Exam, Course and Academy can be done directly from the Styling tab (all Google fonts are available for you to pick 🙃).

Assessment or Quiz

At the moment, it's not possible to change the font or edit the CSS directly from your Assessment or Quiz dashboard. However, you can still change the font. With a Corporate Owl account or above, you have full access to customize the CSS file 📁 of your account. Please check all that is possible here.

Please send us an email ( if you would like to make such changes. We will send you the required files to customize!

1. The first step is determining which font type you would like to use

This can be a free webfont that is available online, or it can be another webfont. If you'd like to use another font we need you to send us the files for that. In order for your font to work properly with all common browsers, we recommend that you send us a .woff2 and a .woff file at the minimum. Please check out the browsers and supported file types below:

2. You need to address the font type in your CSS file

Depending on the extensions of the files that you use, you'd need to add the following information to your custom CSS:

@font-face {  font-family: 'FontName';  src: url('webfont.eot'); /* IE9+ Compat Modes */  src: url('webfont.eot?#iefix') format('embedded-opentype'), /* IE6-IE8 */       url('webfont.woff2') format('woff2'), /* Super modern browsers */       url('webfont.woff') format('woff'), /* Modern browsers */       url('webfont.ttf')  format('truetype'), /* Safari, Android, iOS */       url('webfont.svg#FontName') format('svg'); /* Legacy iOS */}

3. Determine for which text you would like to use the font type(s)

You might only want to change the font of the questions. In that case you would have to add this to your CSS file:

h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6, caption, *[class*=heading_h], .examquestion > strong {
     font-family: [your font type];

To change the font of the answers, you can use this code:

.answers label > span, .qtype {
    font-family: [your font type];

If you would like to change the font type for all the text in the interface this should be in your custom CSS file:

h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6, caption, *[class*=heading_h], .examquestion > strong, body, button, input, select, textarea {
     font-family: [your font type];

If you send us your customized CSS file, we will be happy to implement it for your account!

Do you want to use a paid font?

We prefer to work with alternative (free) fonts. Most of the times, even if you have a license to use a paid font, this license is usually restricted to a limit of pageviews, and certain domains where it can be used. So to find a font that looks like your paid font, you can look for something like “Gotham Google Font alternative” in Google. You can then use this font when editing your CSS file.
